Thornbury Castle has had a chequered history, spanning 500 years. Abandoned by the family as a ruin for approximately 200 years, it was revived around the turn of the nineteenth century as a private house. In the latter stages of the twentieth century the castle was given another and different lease of life, first as a restaurant and then as a hotel. This book follows the twists and turns of the castle’s fate as well as that of its owners over the 500 years of its existence.

It is well-illustrated with portraits and photos, many of which have not been published before.

Originally published in 2013, this revised edition is updated with new material as a result of further information coming to light.
